I have been working on a project behind the scenes and I’m finally ready to give you a sneak peak. The project is a forum that will hopefully help traders of all levels share their backtesting results in a friendly community, get feedback and see what other people are testing.
The Concept
My hope is that the forum will accomplish four things:
- Give people a place to record their backtesting results for later analysis
- Provide concrete evidence that a trading system has a good chance of working in live trading
- Uncover the bullshit behind trading systems that make false claims
- Allow you to “follow along at home” and learn how to trade a profitable system
I would like to test both discretionary and automated systems and also provide a repository for free Metatrader indicators, trading systems and educational material.
How does that sound?
Forums Can Suck
The only problem is that forums can be a bitch to setup and maintain. There need to be moderators and posts need to be constantly checked for spam. Not to mention the additional disk space that will be taken up by all the images.
These things alone made me think twice about starting one. In fact, I still have my reservations. However, after thinking about different ways to accomplish what I want to accomplish a forum is by far the best way to do it.
There Will Be Admission
There is only one way to solve some of these issues. I am ultimately going to charge a small fee for access. This will help compensate me for my time (this blog is a business) and pay for additional disk space and moderators, if necessary.
I want to make it as easily accessible to as many people as possible so there will be a small monthly charge of $4.95/month for regular subscribers and $19.95/month for commercial subscribers. The only difference is that commercial subscribers will be able to post a link in their signature line to their website, product or affiliate link.
How You Can Get In For Free For Life
However, while I’m still testing and tweaking I’m looking for a few good people to give it a try. You have to be willing to do the following:
- Post at least 25 backtesting trades, complete with charts, notes and results
- Give honest feedback on what you think about the forum and how to improve it
That’s it! In exchange, I will give you a free lifetime Commercial Membership just for helping me out.
So if you are serious about becoming a better trader and you already have some sort of forex backtesting software (or are willing to buy one), then please leave a comment below expressing your interest.
Only 3 Spots Available
I’m opening up the forum to only three people, so if you really are interested, don’t delay.
I already have about 100 documented backtesting trades in the forum for you to take a look at. Thanks and I hope this project will make us all better traders!

BTW, just getting to know simplefxtester. I generally like it. Of course, the big advantage is that my MT4 templates work since it IS MT4. One negative, it would be really cool if stops and and profit target horizontal lines could be moved with the mouse. I am sure that this is doable because I have an EA that will do this. There doesn't appear to be a written manual but the training videos are very good. The EA doesn't seem to be configurable. I would like the capability to set default stop loss and lot size. Also would like to be able to adjust color and location for the headsup display.some of this may be resolved with familiarity.Archie
