I have been doing a lot of backtesting with an automated testing script in Forex Tester 2. At certain points however, I was getting errors and I was not able to continue testing.
This was pretty frustrating and I tried reloading the data and building the ticks again. That didn’t work and I tried restarting the computer but that didn’t work either.
I didn’t want to reinstall the program, but it got to the point where I thought I might. Luckily, I finally figured it out.
Here is what I did:
If you go to Windows Explorer and look at your Forex Tester 2 folder, you will see the following folders under TestingMode:
Delete the folder that contains the pair you are trying to test and are getting errors on. Just to be safe, I would also delete that currency pair folder in the EditMode folder too.
After you do that, go back to Forex Tester 2 and reload the data and generate the ticks again. This should allow you to test that pair again with your automated strategy.
If you only delete those folders, it will not mess up the program itself, you are only deleting the data that was loaded for those pairs. For some reason, the data can get corrupted and cause the program to crash. It’s no big deal once you learn how to fix it.
