I’m headed to the beach for the Memorial Day weekend, but I just wanted to take a minute to thank the brave men and women in the military. Regardless if you agree with the war in Iraq or not, these men and women are prepared to die to defend our freedom and I am grateful for their bravery.
I wish I had Memorial Day themed music to review but it didn’t work out like that. I just got the new Spoon album and it’s pretty good. Their music just keeps getting better, in my opinion. The rhythmic beats help me get into the groove when trading. Best song on the album is track 6, Eddie’s Ragga.
What is the best way to explain their music? Well, it’s hard to compare them to any other single band I know of. I haven’t heard too much of their earlier stuff but people have likened them to Sonic Youth and the Pixies on their debut album back in 1996. With all groups, there comes a certain mellowing with age and although this album isn’t that hard, it is still great rock and even borders on a pop album, almost.
