Mmmmm...pizza
There it sat, the answer to my prayers.
A delicious looking pizza pie just calling my name. I picked up a slice and I could see the heat waves radiating. Mushrooms, olives, pepperoni, garlic…it will go so well with my beer. Then I took my first bite.
Blah, what is this crap?
I put the slice down and I sat back for a minute. My first reaction was that of irritation. How could they sell something so bad?
This feeling then turned to fascination. How hard is it to make a decent pizza? Not that hard, I have made better pizza myself and I am no chef by any stretch of anyone’s imagination.
So I got to thinking, what makes a good pizza?
Well basically there is the sauce, the toppings and the crust. Now if I was going to make the best pizza in the world, how would I do it?
It seemed pretty simple, make the best sauce and crust and find the best toppings and seasonings, right? Now how hard would it be to go out and taste 100 different pizzas and try to duplicate the best pizza in each of the aforementioned categories? Then I would study how they were baking the pizzas and find out if there were any other little subtle tricks that could use to make my pizza the best.
Then of course I thought about trading. My trading isn’t very good right now. Why?
It is because I am not taking the time to improve every facet of my trading. I need to figure out strategies that work and find the little extra tricks that will make me profitable. Everything from effective journaling and trade review to the actual setups themselves.
Right then and there, I decided to cut back on a lot of things in my life that are taking time away from my trading. I will be a great trader but the learning curve is frustrating.
I think this would apply to anything in life. If you want to be the best, you have to study every aspect of it and just keep plugging away.
