OK, you are probably saying, I have seen a flying car before. I’m sure that this is what you picture:
Uhhh…no. This is a real flying car and they are already taking orders. The maiden voyage of the Skycar flew from
London to Timbuktu, a journey of about 3,600 miles, proving that the car does work. It is street legal and can actually get up to about 120 mph on the road. Check out the video here:
Since it flies by means of basically a big parachute, there is less risk of a crash than if there were hard wings. Even if the main chute does fail, there is a backup that will deploy in case of an emergency. According to the website, putting up and taking down the chute can be done by one person and takes about 10 minutes. As they mention in the video, it isn’t an everyday driver, but wouldn’t it be fun just to have one? It would be great for island hopping here in Hawaii!
