Trading Library

Here is a list of books and other trading related material that I suggest.

Books

Market Wizards: Interviews with Top Traders – The book that started it all for me. A great book for beginners.
The New Market Wizards: Conversations with America’s Top Traders – Another great book by Jack Schwager.
Stock Market Wizards: Interviews with America’s Top Stock Traders – An excellent read even if you aren’t into stocks.
Beat the Dealer: A Winning Strategy for the Game of Twenty-One – The all-time blackjack classic. It is very applicable to trading in that it teaches the importance of good position sizing and money management.
Trading for a Living: Psychology, Trading Tactics, Money Management – Psychology is such an important part of trading that you should learn as much as you can. This book should be one of the books at the top of your list.
The Day Trader: From the Pit to the PC – The story of Lewis Borsellino and his evolution from a pit trader to an electronic trader. One of my favorite trading books.
Beat the Odds in Forex Trading: How to Identify and Profit from High Percentage Market Patterns – A good book about different patterns that occur in the forex market. He also goes into a very interesting discussion on ECN’s vs. Market Makers.
Trading, Sex, and Dying – Not a book on trading techniques, but in my opinion it is the best book on figuring out what is going on in your own head and how other people are thinking. The title comes from three jobs that the author had that taught him about human nature: professional poker player, dating service operator and funeral home employee.
Trade With Passion and Purpose Trade With Passion and Purpose: Spiritual, Psychological and Philosophical Keys to Becoming a Top Trader – This has become one of my all time favorite trading books.  It is completely dedicated to trading psychology and how we must free ourselves from ways of thinking that hinder our improvement as traders.  Click here to read my full review of this book.
Amazing Life of Jesse Livermore: World’s Greatest Stock Trader – Jesse Livermore is said to be the best stock trader of all time. I don’t understand how he can be considered one of the best stock traders when he blew out his bankroll several times, then committed suicide. However, it is a good read and the story is a true piece of Trading Americana.

Courses

Pro Traders Course – Chris Lori has the absolute best material on teaching price action, in my opinion.  What is price action?

It is the study of how price responds to certain levels and forms certain patterns.  I do not trade exactly the way Chris trades, but this course is the foundation of all the strategies I use.  After I went through this course, I never looked at a chart in the same way again.  It has even helped me in the stock market.

Price action gives you hints as to where the market is going and tells you where you are wrong and should get out.  Regardless if how you want to trade, I believe that this course is essential to the development of any trader.  Click here to check it out.

Videos

Trading Places (Special Collector’s Edition) – My all-time favorite trading movie, hilarious.  A bum and an ex-manager seek revenge on the rich employers who used their lives as a social science experiment.  The payback has more twists and turns than a mountain road, involving a hooker, a butler and a crazy cast of random characters.
Wall Street – A classic trading movie. It doesn’t portray traders in the best light, but it is fun. Sheen and Douglas at their best.
Rogue Trader – This movie is about the true story of how trader Nick Leeson single handedly brought down the 200 year-old Barings Bank of England, the Queen’s bank. I guess she had to find another place to open a checking account.

In my opinion, not as good as the other movies on this list but if you want to find out how he did it, this movie is a must see!

Boiler Room – Again, a movie that looks at the shady side of the business, but very entertaining.
25th Hour – Not strictly a trading movie, but an awesome movie nonetheless. One of the main characters is a trader.

Games

Cashflow 101 Cashflow 101 – The best way to learn is to play games! This fun and educational board game helps you think differently about money and investing.

It’s amazing how much this simple game can teach you about becoming financially free. The funny thing is that once you think you have the game figured out, there is always a new strategy that you can learn to get you out of the rat race faster.

The best part is that these strategies are applicable to real life!
