The World Cup is starting up next month in South Africa and I am excited. Click here to check out the official World Cup website. The US has a tough pull with England in their pool, but the other two teams don’t look like they will be too much trouble.
England has a commanding 7 to 2 wins against the US in head-to-head play but the US has won the only game when they have met in the World Cup.
I still remember the days of Alexi Lalas, when the US National Team was still struggling to gain a little respect in the world. They have come a long way, but we will see how far they have really come next month.
My goal is to see the 2014 World Cup in person in 2014. It will be held in Brazil, that should be an amazing experience!
One of my biggest goals in life is to be able to live what is known as the location independent lifestyle. What does this mean?
It means that I can make a living from anywhere in the world and live anywhere I want for any amount of time. Not that I would necessarily want to live a completely nomadic lifestyle, but I just want the option of being able to go anywhere in the world and still make a very good living on my own.
There is so much out there and so little time!
That is one of the primary reasons I have chosen to become a trader. I can trade from almost anywhere in the world with an internet connection and even some places without internet.
As fun and grand as this sounds, there are some very serious practical considerations that must be taken into account before embarking on such a lifestyle. For example, say you live in the US but want to live in the South of France for 6 months. How will you get your mail? How will you access your money? How will you pay your bills? What kind of mobile phone will you need? How will you get internet access?
And the list goes on and on.
I’m not at the point where I need to be worrying about these things too much because I still need to reach my first goal of trading for a living, but it is something that I am keeping in the back of my mind and whenever I have a little free time, I read some articles about things that need to be taken into consideration.
There isn’t too much information out there, but there is enough to start my research and start building a knowledge base that will be ready when the day comes. I will let you know what I find in future posts.
Would you like to be location independent? If so, where are some of the places you would live? Feel free to leave a comment below.
When I have more free time (and money), I really want to learn how to kiteboard. It is a good alternative to surfing when there aren’t any waves. This video really gets me jacked, this guy is sick…classic Gangstarr track too.
Escalante Utah has some of the most picturesque canyons and a top rated professional guide service. In 1997, then President Bill Clinton established the Grand Staircase Escalante National Monument, 1.9 million acres of diverse terrain and wildlife.
The guide can take you through beginner and advanced courses. There are one-day and multi-day trips available.
This looks like fun. I would probably only do it once but at this “Treesort” in southern Oregon, you can actually stay in a treehouse. Some of the houses are as high as 45 feet off the ground!
It was started by Michael Garnier and features 10 designer tree houses on 36 acres of oak and Douglas fir trees next to the Siskiyou National Forest.
I used to like climbing trees as a kid and I think this would be a great experience. I wonder if there is a weight limit. Click here to find out more or watch the video:
If you have been reading this blog for some time, you probably know that I am a big fan of the Porsche 911 GT3 and the 911 Turbo. However, after watching this video, the Nissan GT-R warrants consideration. I have always loved the Nissan Z car and I have one, but I never imagined that they could come out with a car that would rival a Porsche. BTW, this guy is drifting a 4-wheel drive, crazy! Check it out:
Forget the infinity pool, this is the pool I want in my back yard. A company called Surfparks LLC is developing the world’s first perfect man made wave. This isn’t the half foot mushburgers at the wave tank in Arizona or water being forced up a concrete wall to form a psudeo-barrel like the Flowrider in Texas. Theses will be real barreling waves!
Their first park to feature this technology will be the Ron Jon’s Surf Park in Orlando Florida. The technology ins’t quite there yet, so they have had to push back production.
According to their website, they are developing wave pools that can generate waves that are 6-8 feet high (face) and will be rideable for 80 yards.
Think about how amazing that would be! To be able to go out to your back yard and catch perfect waves whenever you want.
Surfparks’ technology consists of the Versareef, the Wedge Pool Design and the Groundswell Wave System. The Versareef is what really impresses me because they can actually change the shape of the floor of the pool to mimic famous waves all over the world.
Initial projections for the Ron Jon’s Surf Park are in the neighborhood of $12 million dollars. I’m sure that as the technology progresses, the cost will come down.
Imagine being able to surf Pipeline in the morning and come back to surf J-Bay in the afternoon! Of course nothing can take the place of traveling to all these famous surf breaks and surf the real thing, but this would be so much fun!
This item on my wish list is something that I have been thinking about getting for awhile. It is the Dell Inspiron 9 Netbook. As the term implies, it is pretty much only made for checking email and surfing the internet. At just over two pounds, you can throw this little thing in your purse and go! Not that I currently carry a purse, but if I buy a bag for this laptop, unfortunately it would look like a purse and for all intents and purposes would BE a purse. To buy a bigger bag would defeat the purpose, right?
Anyway, I digress…I really like it because is it so small and light and has a solid state hard drive, so no moving parts to break. All I would need to have on it is Windows, Excel, Word, Yahoo Widgets, Firefox and my forex trading platform. The battery is supposed to last about 3.5 hours which is great for such a small package.
The only problem is that the hard drive is only 16GB. But with only a few applications on it, that might not be a problem and I could always add a 16GB SD card for more storage space. It would be great for trips and everyday tasks like updating this blog. The price is also very affordable, so if it broke on a trip because I accidentally sat on it while boarding the plane, I wouldn’t be too distraught. I’ll probably pick one up after I make enough in my trading account to pay for it.
If you have never heard of Necker Island, it may sound like a place where Dracula goes when he needs to take a break from terrorizing the villagers. He might, I don’t know, but what I do know is that it is Richard Branson’s private island in the Caribbean.
According to the website, this is what is included in your stay:
Wouldn’t it be great if you didn’t have to wait in line at the ticket counter at the airport or go through the security check where you get felt up by the 300 pound security guard?
To fly on a private jet is the only way to go in my opinion. With the advent of fractional shares, you don’t need to have your own jet, you can just call one when you need it. Like a timeshare but without the greasy salesman hard pitching you from a sauna while you are on a ‘free’ vacation.
I recently started riding a motorcycle and I enjoy cruisers much more than speedbikes. It’s pretty interesting how most of the time a person prefers one over the other. What is your motorcycle personality? Find out here.
Although I will probably buy a Japanese bike in the near future, you really can’t beat the feel of a Harley…in my opinion, of course. Check out this one, it’s a beauty:
Man, I haven’t been snowboarding in a loooong time! I haven’t made it out to Whistler yet, I really want to go. What are your favorite ski/snowboard destinations?
Hello everyone (my 3 readers out there), I have a few trades that I still have to post, but October was profitable!
I had an idea yesterday and I decided to put it to the test. I believe that we attract everything we have in our lives, regardless if we mean to or not. Therefore, I want to consciously attract $100,000 in trading capital. I love trading and want to do it for a living!
