It does have trouble with some questions and it resorts to a Google search to get the answer.

Regardless, this technology is really exciting. I think it will be to voice what Google is to text search.

However, that got me thinking. Can Siri help me trade Forex better? Maybe it can alert me when price hits a certain level or at the very least, tell me what the current quote is for a currency pair. Or maybe it can help me find a trading strategy that is super profitable.

How did it do? Check out this video to find out:
<iframe

Most apps can give you good quotes and a few decent charts, but that is about it.

However, other iPhone apps were quicker and provided more features. In fact, I actually recommended using the Dukascopy iPhone app just for charting, not because it had more features, but the app was a lot faster.

I recently got a notification that it was time to update MT5, so I downloaded the new version from the App Store. You can see the app in action in the video below, but I must admit, this is what I was looking for the first time. The biggest improvements are the fact that you can add more than one indicator on a chart and that the program is much faster now.

The initial startup is really quick and switching between tabs is super fast. On the last version, it was a little painful to switch between tabs, I’m glad that they have been able to speed up the program…even on my slow ass iPhone 3G.

Anyway, check out the full review below. The software isn’t a desktop replacement yet…but it is definitely getting there.
<iframe

Well let’s see…

In this post, I will show you something that is not only the the ultimate trading room accessory, but a very good iPhone app too. It is a beer launching fridge. I’m sure you have seen these before, but this one has a little twist.

I can be controlled by your iPhone! Now you never have to get up from the screens because you can have your beer delivered air mail at the push of a button. Always cold, always refreshing. Ahhhh…

Of course, this will probably lead to a decline in your profits and hey, let’s face it, you are drinking out of a can. OK, so maybe this isn’t the best thing you can have in your trading room. But definitely in the living room, aimed at the couch!
iPhone forex charting software was a big step up from what I had used before, but it was slow and very limited. In addition, they wanted to charge $60 for you to speed up the chart loading and link it to a trading account in which they were the introducing broker. That meant higher spreads and questionable execution. No thanks.

So when I heard that there was a MT5 app that was available for free, I downloaded it and installed it immediately on my iPhone 3G. Here are my first impressions:
<iframe

Of course, with the popularity of the iPhone, the brokers had to come out with apps eventually, so I just waited.

The day has finally arrived and GFT and FXCM have both come out with apps. There are probably other brokers that have iPhone apps but I already have accounts with these two brokers, so these are the only ones I care about right now.

GFT is actually a really good broker, their customer service is top notch and they have good execution and decent spreads. However,

their original online trading platforms are terrible, very hard to use. It is definitely a case of programmers being in charge of creating the software, not traders. The iPhone app is much easier to use than their regular software so I decided to put some money back into my account there. I did a quick scalp in the EURUSD when my iPhone was on WiFi and it worked well.

I have shied away from FXCM from the beginning for one reason or another but with the new NFA rules, I have given FXCM a second look. What is great about them is that they are allowing US customers to shift their accounts to FXCM UK, which is NOT under the jurisdiction of the NFA. I love it! Therefore, you can still get 400:1 leverage and hedge trades in the same account. I don’t understand why the NFA wants to make forex look more like futures, doesn’t make sense to me.

Anyway, the FXCM iPhone app is also a pleasure to use, simple and fast. The good thing about creating apps for phones is that the programmers really have to get down to the essentials and eliminate the BS. Don’t get me wrong, FXCM has great online trading platforms but I am all about simplicity…and portability.

So there you have it. Broker created iPhone apps took a little while to come to fruition, but they are finally here and they kick ass.

This is yet another case of the gap between laptops and phones getting smaller. One day your phone will be your fully functioning mobile computer.

What do you think? Are there any other brokers that have iPhone apps and what do you think of them? How much do you trade on your mobile phone? Feel free to leave a comment below.

Happy (iPhone) Trading!!

Forex Charting for iPhone

Trade Well

Forex on the Go

iPhone

Technology
<guid
