One of my goals to own a Les Paul guitar. However, I never knew what an impact he had on music in general. One night while trading was slow, I searched Hulu for a good movie and found this documentary on Les Paul. I was amazed at what he had accomplished in his life, but even more impressive was his way of thinking. He was a genius but he was also an independent thinker and that is why he was able to come up with so many inventions and such beautiful music. Even at 90 years old, he was still up on stage, making jokes and playing jazz.
I think there are some correlations to trading that can be taken away from this movie. Becoming a successful trader really has to do with thinking independently, being willing to try new things and keep up with technology. If your trading is slow, I would highly suggest it. Note: once the actual movie starts (not the commercials) move your mouse over the movie and click the square in the upper right corner to go to full screen.
I always find it interesting to see how people have set up their trading rooms. It would be interesting to see if you can tell what kind of trader someone is or even how successful someone is by looking at their trading room.
Here are some setups that I found around the internet. Some are good, some not so good. I especially like it when pets are involved.

While you are waiting for your next trade to set up, check out this video. I don’t know anything about the site (I am in the process of checking it out) but it’s a funny video.
If you have been reading this blog for some time, you probably know that I am a big fan of the Porsche 911 GT3 and the 911 Turbo. However, after watching this video, the Nissan GT-R warrants consideration. I have always loved the Nissan Z car and I have one, but I never imagined that they could come out with a car that would rival a Porsche. BTW, this guy is drifting a 4-wheel drive, crazy! Check it out:
Social Networking sites allow us to connect to old friends and make new friends with similar interests. I have made a lot of trading and real estate connections on these sites and got in touch with people that I haven’t seen since elementary school.
I even got a great massage once. Just to clarify, it wasn’t a ‘happy ending’ massage. I was feeling tense and fortunately met a very cute and professional young woman who owned a massage practice in another state and gave me the best professional massage ever! Anyway, that’s more than you wanted to know. My point is that these sites are great ways to connect with people.
Facebook is all the rage right now and I have to admit, it is pretty cool. And after getting used to Twitter, it is really fun and informative.
But how many of you remember sites like Xanga, Friendster and Asian Avenue? If you are under 25, I doubt you have ever heard of them. And what was that other site…MySpace or something? Psssh, I don’t know anyone who goes on MySpace anymore.
So the question becomes, what is the next big networking site?
Well, I looked at Orkrut.com awhile back and I think that maybe the next big thing in the US. It is supposed to be one of the biggest international social networking sites. What do you think? Leave a comment with your thoughts.
Waiting for the next trade to setup? The market not moving? Check out Hulu.com for free movies and TV shows. The catch? Commercials of course. You won’t get the newest stuff, but you can’t beat the price.
Now that I have your attention, this is the basis of the website www.FatDemons.com. This guy wants to turn a measly $50 into one hundred grand. Possible? Of course. The thing I don’t get is that on the homepage he says that he is already up to $10k+ but on his results page, it shows that he has only made about $18.
He is not a pro, but has a regular job like me. Check it out, or don’t. I hope I am wrong but the site doesn’t seem like it is going anywhere, especially when it shows him hard at work on the homepage, haha. It seems like he is just there to sell you crap. Not that I am against that or anything.
It’s a great idea though! I’m going to check in on it periodically and maybe even hit up his chat room to see what he is up to.
I just saw a really good movie last week called Into the Wild. It is the true story of a man who was tormented by his parents all of his life and after graduating from Emory University, he gives away his entire savings of $24,000 and
I’m a hip-hop head and say what you might about the Jabbawockeez and their mainstream B-Boy success but you have to admit that they are pretty impressive to watch.
Got the screens open but not much going on tonight so far. There were some big moves eariler in the day but nothing that has triggered any signals for me.
I just saw a great movie on DVD…it’s something to do on a night like this (besides more backtesting). It is based on a true story of some lucky bank robbers who end up stealing a lot more than they bargained for. It’s a great story and the gratuitous T&A doesn’t hurt either. But don’t take my word for it…
