The Pool I Want At My House

Perfect waves every time

Perfect waves every time

Forget the infinity pool, this is the pool I want in my back yard.   A company called Surfparks LLC is developing the world’s first perfect man made wave.  This isn’t the half foot mushburgers at the wave tank in Arizona or water being forced up  a concrete wall to form a psudeo-barrel like the Flowrider in Texas.  Theses will be real barreling waves!

Their first park to feature this technology will be the Ron Jon’s Surf Park in Orlando Florida.  The technology ins’t quite there yet, so they have had to push back production.

According to their website, they are developing wave pools that can generate waves that are 6-8 feet high (face) and will be rideable for 80 yards.

Think about how amazing that would be!  To be able to go out to your back yard and catch perfect waves whenever you want.

Surfparks’ technology consists of the Versareef, the Wedge Pool Design and the Groundswell Wave System.  The Versareef is what really impresses me because they can actually change the shape of the floor of the pool to mimic famous waves all over the world.

Initial projections for the Ron Jon’s Surf Park are in the neighborhood of $12 million dollars.  I’m sure that as the technology progresses, the cost will come down.

Imagine being able to surf Pipeline in the morning and come back to surf J-Bay in the afternoon!  Of course nothing can take the place of traveling to all these famous surf breaks and surf the real thing, but this would be so much fun!

No worries, I'll figure out a way to make it happen. The technology is exciting though and with the right funding it would be an awesome ride!

Sorry to burst your bubble, but this project was cancelled due to lack of funding. You'll notice the site has not be updated in quite some time. Orlando Surf Park is not happening, although other projects are happening elsewhere.
