I finally got over my jetlag and had some time to upload some pictures. Today my trip to Poland takes me to the town of Kazimierz. It is a small historic area that features two castles and a monastery.
The town is located on the Lubin Plateau and is next to the Vistula River. It is both a tourist attraction and a weekend get away for people from Warsaw.
Walking around really gave me a feel for how much older that town is than anywhere I have been in the US. The cobblestone roads and ancient architecture give you a tiny glimpse into what the place may have looked like hundreds of years ago.
Since it is the weekend getaway for rich people from the city, there was a lot of development going on as old houses were being replaced by brand new villas. There are rooms for rent everywhere and there is a very stark contrast between the old and the new.
The weather has been amazing. Before we got here, it was snowing, but it is now about 72 degrees (F) during the day!
Here are some pictures:
Tomorrow I am off to Estonia. I am excited because we will be staying with our friend who is Estonian and we get to learn about the real Estonia, not just what the tourists see. Stay tuned for more!
