So there is one part that I left out of the Rudy Leder interview. At the end of the interview, he told me to check out these YouTube videos. I wasn't sure what they were and didn't get around to checking them out until now.
After watching them, I decided to post them here because I felt that they are very educational. Rudy is right in that we should be learning from successful people in all areas of life. Just because we want to be successful Traders, that does not mean that we only have to learn from other Traders.
I believe that success in any area of life can be used as a template for other areas. Of course, it may not be directly translate-able…being able to rap well doesn't help you at all in trading. It would just make you a weirdo.
But the mindset and perseverance that is required to become a successful Rapper is very similar to what you need to become a successful Trader.
In this PBS video, rapper Jay-Z (Shawn Carter) is interviewed by Charlie Rose and he gives a very candid account of his life and his rise to Rap superstardom. What I found most interesting was that Jay-Z developed a passion for writing at an early age and he would be thinking about stories constantly. This practice and repetition is one of the things that ultimately made him successful.
Sound familiar?
Anyway, even if you are not into Hop Hop, I think you fill find it interesting and entertaining. Check out the 5 part series here:
