How It Started…
Hi, my name is Hugh Kimura and I'm the Creator of Trading Heroes.
I first learned about trading in 1999, just before I graduated from college. It was such an exciting topic that I bought dozens of trading books and was so busy reading them that I barely graduated.
After I graduated, I moved to Los Angeles and wanted to get some experience in trading, but I didn't know where to start.
Since I had a degree in Biology, I knew that it would be an uphill battle. But I looked for every opportunity and ended up answering an ad in the LA Times for a position as a currency trader.
Forex was just starting to be available to the public at that time, and if you wanted to trade FX you had to go into one of these offices that had live quotes and direct connections with brokers.
This trading firm gave everyone who answered the ad 1 week of training and I was one of the 3 people from my class who was still around at the end of the week. Since I “graduated” from the program, I could go into the office at any time to trade.
After I passed the training, I had a verbal commitment from a couple of people who were willing to loan me $10,000 to trade.
If I wanted to place a trade, I had to fill out a paper ticket and take it up to the window. The woman behind the desk would then call the broker to place a trade on my behalf.
But I never got that far…
However, I was watching the screens at the office at around 10pm one night, and I saw the EURUSD drop about 100 pips in a few seconds. I immediately calculated how much money I would have lost if I was in a trade, and realized that I still didn't understand how this trading thing worked.
So I told my investors that I didn't feel comfortable trading their money and I set off on a journey to really figure it out…
While I was learning to trade, I took a few jobs to pay the bills.
I worked at the trading desk of a hedge fund, as an IT consultant for an IBM Premier Business Partner and worked for a subsidiary of one of the largest banks in the world.
During that time, I learn a lot about trading and Finance and started Trading Heroes as a way to connect with other traders and share what I was learning. I also started a podcast so I could talk to successful traders and find out how they became successful.
I named the site Trading Heroes because I wanted to feature traders who were heroes (pros) and I wanted to help others become the heroes of their trading journey.

Since Then…
My trading journey has taken to many places.
I've been a speaker at international trading conferences and I've met many amazing traders from around the world.
The most fulfilling part of my journey however, has been the process of self-development and understanding who I am. This has been the real reward of the trading journey.
In a quest to become the best version of myself, I've faced my deepest fears and traveled the world to participate in many healing modalities. These sessions helped me release negative programming that weighed me down for so much of my life.
Today, I'm a full-time entrepreneur and trader and I help traders on their journey to creating more freedom and abundance through trading.
