Here is the Metatrader tip of the day.  Sometimes, you go back in the history on a Metatrader chart to see what has happened in the past few days.  However, if you want to get back to the current bar quickly, it doesn't always happen.

The chart will only auto scroll when price moves and if you are in a slow trading time, like before the Asian session open, it can take some time for the price to move.

It can be a little annoying, especially when you are trying to get back to the current price action to trade.  This could even cost you some money and I want to help you avoid that.

Here is a quick and easy way that I discovered to solve this problem.  If you prefer the text version, you can find it after the video.

metatrader auto scroll button

If you click on the Auto Scroll button in Metatrader, it will automatically keep your chart on the current bar. But sometimes, you want to look at some historical price action and will turn off Auto Scroll in order to do that.

But when you click on Auto Scroll again, it can take some time for the char to move back to the current bar. Quite frankly, I'm just not that patient.

So I found that if you also click the button to the right of the Auto Scroll button, that will get you back to the present much faster.  This is the Chart Shift button.  It will indent your chart after you click on it, so you will have to click on it a second time if you do not want the chart to be indented. It is really easy to do, once you know how, but if you do not know, sometimes it can be frustrating to wait for the Auto Scroll to kick in.
